Hot Water Bottles Can Be Really Useful
As unusual gifts go, a hot water bottle probably doesn’t seem like a particularly good choice of gift for anyone. Boring and a bit outdated, you’d expect it to end up just sitting in the bottom drawer, unused and forgotten for years and eventually handed over to a charity shop. But it’s often the most unlikely gifts which turn out to be an unprecedented success and if you think about it hot water bottles can be useful in any number of ways besides just keeping your feet warm in winter, and they could even help save money too.
Of course the main reason for having a hot water bottle is to warm you up when it’s cold at night. OK so putting a bag of boiling water on your feet instead of just using an electric blanket might sound a bit silly in this day and age. But using a hot water bottle is far cheaper and less wasteful – there’s no continued use of electricity you just fill it up. It also stops producing heat after a while, saving energy and meaning you get the best night’s sleep.
Hot water bottles can also help your health, alright you’re not going to get a miracle cure out of one but they do help with minor aches and pains. A hot water bottle can give you a break from persistent back or neck pain, and let you get some proper rest. They can be a great help to pregnant women, and can also help with stomach aches. I think if someone was looking for an unusual gift for me I would rather get something with so many different uses than the usual nice but essentially useless plethora of scented candles and bubble baths, random gadgets, Buddha ornaments and other household clutter.
