Women Better Prepared for Christmas than Men
Christmas Shopping - Clark W. Griswold Style
With Christmas only a few short weeks away how prepared are you? Survey results suggest that if you are a woman you will already be prepared but if you are a man you’ll have done absolutely nothing.
A Halifax building society survey has demonstrated how much more prepared women are than men when it comes to Christmas shopping. Around one in three (30%) or women who save for Christmas have said that they started saving earlier this year compared with only 15% of men. Around half of the women surveyed (48%) said that they had prepared a Christmas gift list whereas only 15% of men said they had done the same.
Although there have been reports that the recession is over many are indicating that they will be tightening their belts by spending less this year than last. About half (47%) of women and around 30% of men have reported that they will be speding less on gifts this year compared to last. Most of the men interviewed (75%) said that they would be changing their buying habits by shopping in the pre Christmas sales.
Many are turning to online shopping this year with around 28% of women and 43% or men reporting that they would be buying some or all of their Christmas gifts online. Many of the parents interviewed have reported that they tend to leave the purchase of high value items for their children until last, particularly if they are buying bulky items. This avoids having to find secure hiding places away from prying eyes.
The best advice for consumers this Christmas is that shopping around is likely to present some money saving bargains. There are many stores providing some fantastic pre-Christmas discounts, some as high as 25%. There are lots of discount codes available that will provide some useful discounts when shopping online.
Whatever you do be sure to have a wonderful, restful and enjoyable Christmas.

The deadline of Christmas day can make shopping for presents very difficult and stressful especially if you have a lot of people to buy for. Fortunately, Christmas shopping does not have to sap your holiday spirit with long lines and cranky store clerks. With a little bit of planning and creativity you can smoothly sail through your Christmas list, and you may even have some time left for an extra viewing of a classic Christmas film.
Plan A Budget And Take A List
make sure you write a list before you go shopping detailing everyone you need to buy a present for, how much you want o spend on them and any ideas you already have. This will save you much time standing in a store wondering if a particular sweater is the right size or colour for the recipient. making sure you do not spend do much will be easier as you tick each item off your list. You can often find ideal gifts in bulk like sweets or cake and these can be given to several people on your list.
Shop From Home
Of course there is always the option of internet shopping, and more and more holiday shoppers are finding this to be the method of choice for Christmas shopping. It is best to complete your Christmas shopping over the internet as early as possible to avoid the higher shipping fees for express or overnight shipping. The choice and price is better online for some items, especially home furnishings like a king size duvet cover. You do not need to worry about putting your face on when you do your shopping online either, you could be in your dressing gown and no one would know. For your convenience, some retailers even offer to send the items straight to the recipient of the present which makes your life easier.!
Don’t Limit Yourself To The Mall
Other good ideas for presents include tickets to concerts and you can buy these without having to go into shops. Other gifts like this include vouchers for restaurants, cinemas and activity centres. Offer your services if you know that this would be appreciated, you can babysit or look after someone’s pet whilst they go on a rare night out.
