Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

You can’t really go wrong with the biggest game of the year. An ideal gift for any first person shooter fans, Modern Warfare 2 is a must have game. The game has a fantastic story line, despite is being quite short, it does compensate with one of the best multiplayer modes on any console. With a game that’s this good, it’s quite hard to go wrong.

DJ Hero

Another music game now, DJ Hero is another game from the makers of Guitar Hero. This time you drop the guitar for some decks. The only downside to this is that the use of the controller is really limited to the DJ games. However, if you’re living with an aspiring DJ, it’s the ideal gift to buy.

Tony Hawks: RIDE

The latest Tony Hawks game, only released last week and it’s their best yet. The game features a skateboard controller which is very similar to the Wii Balance Board. The game is pretty simple to control, even without any skateboarding experience, plus it’s great fun to play. Just like DJ Hero, the high priced controller can only be used on that game, hopefully more games will be released in the future to use this great controller.

Christmas is getting ever closer and many people will have already begun their Christmas shopping to try and avoid the December rush. Even though we all enjoy Christmas, mainly due to the silly amount of food we eat and the gifts we receive, however, Christmas isn’t a good time for the environment.

To accompany the obscene amount of food and gifts we end up buying also comes a massive number of packaging. The actual contents of the wrappers also have a negative effect on the environment, especially the manufacture of them.

Trying to decide what your relatives want for Christmas is hard enough, but trying to think of an eco friendly gift is even harder. To give you some ideas, here are some great fairtrade gifts.

With everyone being more aware of the environment and climate change, there is a huge range of items you can buy that are eco-friendly and recycled. Obviously laundry baskets or recycled tableware are not great as Christmas gifts, however, there are many others that would be perfect. There are gifts for everyone, from brandy drinkers to gardeners, you can get things such as recycled brandy glasses or recycled gardening tools, all of which make great Christmas gifts.

As for children’s gifts, unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be a massive amount for older children. However, if you have younger children, then there are some great fair trade soft toys or solar powered wooden toys that you can buy that kids would love.

The final thing to help the environment comes after the gift buying, the present wrapping. Although you may think you can’t do much about it, unless you just leave the presents un-wrapped. However, there is. Being made from paper, wrapping paper is so simple to recycle, because of this, many retailers are now selling recycled wrapping paper. Also, after your done ripping off the paper that you carefully wrapped, make sure you recycle all of the wrapping to help even more.

When it comes down to it, there are not many women who will turn their nose up at receiving gifts that will enhance their appearance. In fact jewelry and beauty products made up a quarter of all gift sales last Christmas according to UK department store Debenhams. Buying normal face moisturiser is a tricky business as people often now us special ones for their skin type, they have their favorite fragrance and may want anti-aging, skin tightening or all any of other types on the market. Luckily buying body moisturiser as womens gifts is not such a task yet as they are not as specialized as facial products. You still need to know if the person you’re buying for as dry or oily skin, but as long as you buy high quality products you cannot go wrong.

As Christmas is finally on its way I thought I would start to get into the mood by writing about some of the strangest things I have actually been given.

Every year that goes by the gift from her seems to be more and more out there and insane, is this saying something about her mental state. My Aunt is the one who seems to enjoy handing out crazy gifts and it would seem especially to me. These gifts make you feel like a kid again and are welcome over the normal socks and clothes.

Some of these eco Christmas gifts have even been environmentally friendly gifts which I cannot say I am a personal fan of but nevertheless some of them have been really quite fun to mess around with, so without further baffling, here is the list of my favourites.

The Old Fighting Granddads

The great thing about these is that whenever they are switched on you seem to get a small gathering of people each routing for one granddad over the other. Basically you get two toy granddads and once you set them down on the table or wherever they start hitting each other with canes. It was just like watching Hulk Hogan wrestle it out in twenty years time.

Of course personally I will never play chess, I thought it was still a cool little gift as the set knew exactly when I made a wrong move

The poor Bed linen gift

Yes I received eco bed linen from my mad aunt and this is the strangest of all the items received as it isn’t even a crazy gift.

Has my aunt finally lost her marbles? I wonder what crazy, out there, present my aunt has in store for me this holiday season. After all, most people have that crazy person who loves to give out wacky gifts every year right?

Although it would seem a bit shame for me to talk about Christmas when it is still a few months away yet, many people are out there looking for eco gift ideas. These things are not made up at all and the come from the fur of an Alpaca. All of the animals used for the making of these slippers have died of natural causes so you need not worry about that in any way. The people who make these are paid well as these slippers are fair trade so you get the best of comfort in the slippers and knowing someone is having a decent life.

How about that Organic Bathrobe

In terms of table ware this is going to be of no use to you whatsoever, however this bathrobe is made out of organic cotton and is very comfy indeed.

When it comes to vases to keep the flowers in you wouldn’t expect to find eco friendly vases but believe it or not you can even be eco friendly when it comes to keeping your flowers looking nice and healthy.

Of course children and younger people are not likely to appreciate these gifts as to them the Xbox 360 is a much better gift. Of course if you are enthusiastic about these kinds of things then why not purchase them for yourself?

This requirement that we have to connect to the internet all the time supports the argument that we areally are addicted to gadgets. I was introduced to online shopping a few years ago when a friend of mine advised me that a certain electrical type company was offering their products with a discount of ten percent, when they were purchased online. This fascinated me and I then started to investigate if this was a trend which other retail outlets were offering. A couple of years ago at Christmas time, I must admit that I purchased around eighty percent of my presents online. This saved me having to go to the shops in the first place, fighting through the Christmas shopping crowds and trying to find a car park space.

My family even now buy our weekly food shopping online. My wife prefers doing the food shopping in this way as she does not have to wait to have her items scanned and does not have to put up with the children asking if they can have this or that.

I believe that this online shopping revolution has only just started. I think that more and more companies are going to offer this service and that their websites will become even more impressive and easy to use for the consumer.

In around five years time most households in the UK will have access to the internet therefore introducing even more potential customers to the option of online shopping.
